Recording: Each book is accompanied by a CD recording of jam
tracks. Each jam track is presented with harmonica (Steve plays to the
entire jam track to give you ideas on how to approach the song, as well as
some great licks to add to your vocabulary!) and without harmonica in
standard jam track fashion.
Description: Steve Baker has compiled a fantastic
collection of jam tracks for all styles of blues harmonica. Each volume
presents jam tracks with varying grooves, tempos and forms. Each book
contains information regarding the jam tracks presented, including a chord
chart, description of the groove and notated licks that can be used. The
strength of this series is in its diversity of grooves (traditional blues,
funk blues, country blues, rock blues, Latin blues, ballad blues, etc.) and forms
(12-bar, 8-bar and other). I use these with all skill-level students,
though I especially like using these jams with my more advanced students
to expose them to more grooves than the average 12-bar shuffle.
