A Custom Harp Mic? Consider This . . .
The Grill
The Astitic JT-30 (smaller) and the Shure 520 (larger) are the most popular. Another
option is the "ball mic" style. The grill will determine the front end shape of
the microphone.
The Microphone Element
There's a whole world of possibilities. From the Astatic crystal and ceramic to the Shure
controlled magnetic as the best known, to the truly rare and arcane. Dynamics, ribbons,
electret condensers even carbon. If you like the sound and you can hold it in your hand,
it can be used in a harp mic.
Body Size and Shape
Look at your hands. Are they big ? small ? Are you right handed ? left handed ? How do you
cup the mic? All of these variables can be accommodated

Body Materials
Figured Maple, Black Walnut and Burled Redwood are favored, as they offer a look and feel
that is unsurpassed. Controls, Connectors & other Components ~ You can have what
you've always dreamed of.
The Finish
From natural wood tones to hot rod pigments,
even "flame top" guitar finishes. Make yours a personal statement. I've
spent most of my life working with microphones. Broadcast, vocal and harp mics of
virtually all makes and models have played an important part in my life experience.
Creating customized harp mics reflects my desire to lend an personal identity to the
instrument in the hands of the performer, much like the Gibson Les Paul in the hands of
Duanne Alman, Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Page, or the Strat in the hands of Jimi Hendrix,
Stevie Ray Vaughan or Eric Clapton. Your harp mic can be a personalized work of art,
that's meant to be held, the right tool for the job, and an extension of your passion for
playing. ~ Fritz
