It is precision-machined to withstand rugged use, and is warranted against mechanical and electrical defects for one year. The designer (and David Barrett) tested this control with all kinds of mics - crystal, controlled magnetic, controlled reluctance and dynamic to ensure good tone and a smooth roll-off. The volume pot chosen is the same as what Shure uses in their popular 520-DX Green Bullet microphone.
